Description

'The Gigi-SS-60' 60" Cast Iron Petite Bateau Tub with PURE METAL Stainless Steel Exterior and Drain

The Petit Bateau (little boat) tub is a re-designed version of another, much older tub produced in France at the turn of the 19th century. Instead of maintaining the same traditional broad lines, our design team produced a more modern elegant, wider step rounded base and narrower roll top lip. This presents a very elegant variation and softer form of the original tub.

This is our fabulous Stainless Steel version. We use a high grade 304 stainless for the exteriors on the Stainless Steel Collection. The cast iron tub is left in its original form as it exits the mold and cleaned of any excess iron scale. We then finish the inside of the tub with thick, bright white enamel before completing the exterior. Onto the raw iron exterior, we apply twelve layers of molten 304 stainless steel. When we apply the stainless steel, it naturally settles slightly unevenly into the cast iron tub exterior.

The stainless steel is not a living finish and will not alter much in appearance over the course of its life. Any marks or stains can be easily removed with a soft, damp cloth.
