Product Details
A sleek and extremely elegant French Bateau style freestanding tub. Our inspiration to manufacture this gorgeous bathtub came from an original Chariot tub produced by the French company Rogeat in Lyon, France around 1850.
To intersect with today's bathing expectations, we did make it several inches wider than the original. We also made the ends slope a little more than the original as we felt that today's bathers would prefer a little more recline at the back for additional comfort. Apart from these updates, it is very similar to the original Rogeat tub.
This is a truly stunning deep bathtub with an antiqued copper leaf exterior that is guaranteed to be the centerpiece of any fabulous spa retreat bathroom.

Finishing
Before leafing, we apply primer and a copper paint as our leafing base. We allow this to sit for two to three days in natural atmospheric conditions before preparing the tub for our leafing specialist to hand apply the solid copper leaf. Again we allow the tub to sit for a further two to three days while the copper slowly begins its' natural aging process. Over the next few days, we gradually introduce new layers of special solutions to expedite the weathering process. After this, it's back to the natural external forces for a further few days. Using a special neutralizing solution, we wash the entire tub exterior before coating with four heavy layers of high grade gloss clear lacquer. The lacquer not only protects and seals the surface, it almost illuminates the gorgeous colors and hues of the tub exterior.
