Different Finishes
Explanations
·
‘PURE METAL' Exterior - Polished
Nickel – Polished Zinc - Aged Copper – Burnished Brass and Living Finish Copper and Zinc – Pure-Metal is a spray applied metal finish. First,
we prepare the tub exterior surface then we blast molten metal (nickel, copper,
brass etc.) onto the surface and it bonds 100% with the parent metal exterior.
Several coats of molten metal are applied until the required thickness is
achieved.
We then start the finishing process. This consists of several variations
of sanding to smooth the tub surface. On cast iron surfaces, many of the
original mold marks will remain visible making every tub both very exquisite
and totally unique.
Following the sanding process, we use several different methods of machine
and hand polishing to achieve the final highly polished mirror like finish.
Beeswax is applied to protect the surface.
·
Metal Skirted Exterior – Stainless
Steel, Copper and Brass - This term refers to an outer tub skirt made from the parent material described.
Depending upon the material, the thickness will range from 1/16” to 3/16”.
These metal surfaces are then prepared and polished or burnished as required. Beeswax
is applied to protect the surface.
·
Burnished Metal Exteriors – This would be the processes as noted
above without polishing to a mirror finish. Instead, the process is completed
when the surface is only slightly reflective and not as shiny as the polished
finishes. Beeswax is applied to
protect the surface.
·
Aged Copper – This term refers to expedited aging
of actual Pure-Metal copper, brass etc. as well as metal skirted exteriors.
These finishes will never look identical as the result depends on how the aging
compounds react with the metal on any given day. Beeswax is applied to protect
the surface.
·
Burnished Cast Iron Exteriors – This term refers to natural cast iron
exteriors that are presented just as they were when the tub was cast in the
mold. Due to the molding processes employed and even small things like weather
conditions on the day the tub was made, each tub will present its’ own story of
its’ journey through conception. Truly unique and individual in every way,
these tubs are finished with four coats of high gloss clear lacquer.
·
Aged Chrome Exteriors – This term refers to a painted
application. We prepare the tub exterior surface to accept a specially
formulated coating that contains real chrome and nickel particles. After this, four
coats of high grade clear lacquer are applied to protect the surface.
·
Aged Copper Effect – This term refers to an application of
paint that contains pure copper particles, it can also refer to a genuine
copper leafed exterior, depending on the chosen bathtub. After being applied,
special aging compounds are applied to give an antiqued patina of choice. To
protect the surface and depending on the application, the exterior will be
lacquered or have protective beeswax applied.
·
Painted Exteriors – This term refers to an application of
high grade automotive single stage paint with clear lacquer finish.
